Thanks for showing interest in our first PLD event for 2024. It is designed to support kaiako and leaders of all learning phases from years 1-10. The focus of the workshop is to design a sequence of experiences that centre the Understand-Know-Do of the Social Sciences Learning Area, including Aotearoa's histories curriculum.

This 6 hour workshop will take kaiako through a planning process that ASSEN has been developing and refining throughout 2023. The process includes:

• developing a sequence of topic-specific know statements 
• making mātauranga Māori explicit in these know statements 
• creating rich learning experiences which enact the do practices and connect to the know statements
• weaving literacy & communication and maths strategies into the learning experiences
• purposefully building progressions of learning into the experiences

Our process has been designed so that it can be applied across Te Mātaiaho, not only the social sciences.
